Sandqvist: Everyday bags for awesome people
The art of a good bag is a tricky skill to master.  Unsurprisingly if it’s covered in a NASA developed waterproof material with heat welded seams and can charge your car whilst updating your smartphone then it’s not on my wishlist.  Simple and effective is how I like things.
Luckily, Sandqvist exists.

The Mrs & I were recently given the chance to test drive the Andy and the Stig bags in Sandqvist’s rad new coral print.  Born in a basement in 2004 from the need for a specific product the brand’s designs are influenced by ‘Nordic landscapes with vast unpopulated areas, soaring mountains and remote cabins’ - sounds pretty much perfect right?  Well, it pretty much is.  Anton Sandqvist, brand founder, didn’t feel comfortable in the world of suits and instead now rides motorbikes, fishes and hikes whilst designing products fit for purpose.

I’ve been using the Andy for a couple of weeks now, and this is the perfect choice for someone who doesn’t enjoy backpacks.  Sizeable enough to carry a couple of books, a camera, thick sweater, lunch and your laptop without being overbearing, it also includes great adjustable leather straps which is rare to see on a tote.  Though at first it may appear a little large, I’m one of those people who always seems to day trip with a bulging bag and the extra size on the Andy is both convenient and not at all noticeable when you’re actually carrying it.  Two small zipped interior pockets help you keep necessities close to hand without being intruding.

The Stig on the other hand, is quite obviously a backpack and, I am reliably informed, is comfortable to wear with the added compliment of being perfect for a commute.  Coming with the same buckle strap adjusters as the Andy it also includes the now standard laptop sleeve and padded back which you’ll get on any good rucksack nowadays.  Deceptively it gives the outward appearance of being quite compact but actually holds a roomy 14L.
